Diagnostic Evaluations
We recognize how important it is for young children to access a thorough evaluation if they are showing early signs of autism. At SBS, we use state-of-the-art tools and the assessment can occur in our office or over telehealth in the family’s home. Please note that pediatric telehealth evaluations are only available for children between 20-36 months.
Therapy and Counseling
Dr. Selman has specific training in working with individuals with autism. He provides individual and family therapy and focuses on problem-solving and social skills, managing anxiety and depressive symptoms, problematic behavior, ADHD-related concerns, school issues, life skills, and peer conflict. Our approach is strength-based and collaborative, and will often include outreach to the different stakeholders and providers caring for the client.
Parent Training is an evidence-based approach for parents who have children or teens with challenging behavior. Research strongly supports this type of therapy for parents of children with autism. Programs are designed to help parents learn effective behavior management techniques to reduce and prevent the occurrence of their child’s challenging behavior and increase positive interactions.
These programs are also effective in helping children learn social skills, adaptive skills, anger management, and stress reduction. When we provide support, collaboration and education for families, we are in a better position to make meaningful gains with our clients.

Is autism part of your story?
We have met many adults who wonder if autism is part of their life story. They often felt “different” growing up, viewed the world in unique ways, spent considerable time and energy “masking” or hiding their differences in order to fit in, and feeling isolated or misunderstood.
Many of the same adults have experienced overwhelming sensory issues, anxiety, depression, trauma or rejection from their peers, teachers, employers, or partners. They have often struggled at work, in college, with relationships, or living independently. Adults seeking autism assessment may have been mislabeled or misdiagnosed as children.
